Honey Bee Swarm Removal Services - Hitchin, Hertfordshire
Honey Tree Surgeons provide emergency honey bee swarm removal services. Below is a quick guide on how to identify a bee and how to locate a swarm of bees.
Did you know that the Honey bee is one of the most common bees found within the UK?
Bees are often mistaken for wasps - the simplest way to tell the difference is whether they are hairy or not. If they are hairy, it's a bee. If not, it's a wasp.
Once you’ve confirmed you’re dealing with an infestation or colony of honey bees, you’ll need to locate the origin of the bees swarm. Please do this before you call us – if it’s not physically on your property, the property owner will need to give access permission to us instead.
Honey bees are less aggressive than wasps but if you do get too close to a colony, they can get defensive. Never try to remove a swarm of bees yourself – use pest control specialists that have the required training and equipment to do so.
Where is the honey bee swarm located?
There will be a lot of activity around a bees nest so if you see lots of bees entering and exiting a specific location, there is likely to be a colony there. Common places to find a swarm of honey bees include:
- Compost heap
- In wall cavities
- Inside bushes and trees
We charge a call-out fee for the collection of a honey bee swarm, which is normally collected on the same day, if we receive a call before 5pm.
